I really love old black and white photographs, from portraits (see this and Michael Shindler) to street photography & old pictures of the city in general. (see Ruth Orkin, Vivian Maier and Frank Habicht)
Just recently i stumbled upon this American documentary photographer and filmmaker called Walter Rosenblum. His pictures are beautiful, each one telling its own story. I’ve included some of my favourites below, but if you’re as enthusiastic about this style of photography as I am, i suggest looking at more of his work here and giving a look at the photographers above too!

Mixtape #1

Seeing as we’ve decided to introduce some changes, and give the site a new feel, we thought we’d go ahead and throw in a mixtape to mark the occasion. The mixtape is called “Atlas”. It’s pretty chilled and laid back. We hope you enjoy it.

Some amazing artwork by Jimmy Turrell who is a graphic artist based in London. He described his style perfectly in an interview with IdN magazine: “I guess a lot of my work is steeped in nostalgia but I try hard to examine it in a contemporary setting. I try to use methods that produce strange (and often awkward) combinations of images and ideas. Mixing analog techniques from the past with imagery and subject matter from the present can create strange hybrid worlds – which in themselves feel new and of their time. This often means my style is quite diverse – it can jump from hand painted portraits to complex collage work to very simple graphic pieces – though hopefully a certain spirit runs throughout.”

Jessica Barensfeld and Simon Howell’s shared apartment in brooklyn would just be an amazing space to live in: plants everywhere, white walls covered in picture frames, white staircases, wooden floors, an amazing lamp hanging from the roof and even a bicycle!
