2-3

So tell us a bit about yourself, what you do, and why you chose it.
I’m an immature 19 year old from Adelaide, Australia and I take photos because it makes me happy.

So how long have you been taking photos for?
For about two years now.

What made you pick up a camera? Was it a casual hobby, or did you actually think to yourself: ‘I want to become a serious photographer’?
It started as a hobby and it still is because I feel a hobby is an obsession. I’m just lucky to be paid to do what I love.

” ‘Do what you want’ is the only advice I could give. Don’t let anyone tell you what to do or how to think. At the end of the day we can only please ourselves.”

Film or digital? Why?
Whatever works best in each situation. Both have their positives and negatives. I’m not conceited when it comes to cameras; I just want the best result in the end.

You’ve inspired a lot of young photographers (like us) what or who inspires you? For what particular reason?
Really? That’s so nice of you to say. Life and the people I’ve met along the way inspire me. I’m very intent on living an adventurous life and having beautiful people and things around me.

Would you say that being based in Adelaide strongly influences your work?
I would say it has a lot due to with my friends here and the picturesque landscapes that surround it.

If you could choose anywhere in the world to photograph where would it be?
Very cliché, but a road trip from LA to New York has always been my dream. I hope to do something like that in the next year.

Do you see yourself being a photographer your whole life? Is it your career of choice?
Yeah to be honest I can’t see myself doing anything else. I’m only just getting started but I don’t think ill ever say “fuck photography, I want to be a lawyer”. I’d rather be a poor photographer than deal with stuff like that. Also, I’m not smart enough to be a Lawyer…

Where do you see yourself in 20 years?
I like to dream big…so I think I’ll be living between Sydney and New York (or LA, Paris or Milan) still doing what I love. Or on a boat off the coast of Fiji.

Is there any particular theme that you keep in mind when you’re shooting? For example the human relationship with nature is often very prominent in your photos, did you plan this?
I don’t plan enough, that’s one of my faults. I just go with what I’m thinking at the time. I never planned to communicate that relationship, it just came out and I don’t even really like it. I’m steering away from that one.

What would your advice to aspiring young photographers like us be?
“Do what you want” is the only advice I could give. Don’t let anyone tell you what to do or how to think. At the end of the day we can only please ourselves.

You just released your first short film! Congrats, it’s amazing!  What were your inspirations behind it?
Thanks a lot! I just wanted to turn something mundane into something beautiful. That’s pretty much what I try to do with all of my work. It’s just a film about a girl’s day out. Boredom shines through (which is VERY Adelaide) yet I find it totally interesting. The film would be nothing without Peak Twin’s track, which funny enough is about being bored.

What’s next for you? Anything big planned for the future?
Going to be living in Sydney in September working with some magazines and maybe assisting for some big boy photographers. Looking like I’ll be doing my first cover for an internationally sold magazine soon which is HUGE for me. And I’m in the process of sorting out some new exhibitions.
